From my first visit to Bergen in 2012, Bergen quite quickly became one of my favourite cities in the world. Something about it left a distinct imprint in my memory; the wooden houses of Bryggen, the view from Mt Floyen, the shopping strip in town...I fell in love with the city! For a place notorious for rain or snow, but probably mostly rain, we were lucky enough to have sunny weather on both days we were there!
So after taking the Norway in a Nutshell from Oslo, we stopped to spend a couple nights in Bergen to explore the city. On the first day, we awoke and set out first to Bryggen. Next we went across town wandering aimlessly through the streets, only to stop at Godt Brod to sit down for an hour over cinnamon rolls and chai lattes. Afterwards we decided to walk up Mt Floyen at midday and stay up there to see the sun set over the city. On the way up we stumbled upon a local ice rink, which we were excited to hop on and skate around on, but disappointed to find it was a byo skates! Oh those perks of living in Norway!
The next day was rather relaxed compared to the first, it was spent walking around into every single store that looked aesthetically pleasing or sold tourist goods, which we did not actually buy! Followed by another hour sitting and chatting over hot chocolates and a brownie in Cafe Opera and later checking out every store on the shopping strip and inside the shopping centres on the strip too.
