February half term was spent exploring Norway with my friend Heidi. We both landed on the Friday night in Oslo, upon arriving the first point of call was food. We found a pizza place down the road from our hostel for the night, ordered a large pizza only to have the guy accidentally make us a medium pizza and then proceed to make a large and give us one on the house!

The next morning we set off on the Norway in a Nutshell, a tour that would take us from Oslo to Bergen by train, boat and bus, passing through towns, the countryside, fjords, and a ride on the Flam railway, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world.

Our first train was the Bergen railway to Myrdal, whilst on this four hour train ride we passed many towns engulfed in a blanket of white snow, some even had ski lifts on their doorstep!

The next portion of the journey was the Flam railway from Myrdal to Flam. This scenic railway route truly lived up to being one of the most beautiful! We passed through mountains, literally through mountains, and caught a glimpse of cute little towns too, whilst passing a frozen lake, there was kids ice skating who stopped to wave at us as we went by.

An hours break in Flam allowed for a lunch stop and quick charge of my camera before heading onto a boat along the fjord. This part of the journey I have to say was one of the most spectacular. The fjords of Norway are just amazing and jaw dropping, the mountain ranges it passed through were utterly gorgeous and the reflections of these mountains in the water were absolutely stunning! As it was winter, the latter part of the fjord was actually frozen over, so our boat had to break the ice as it continued on its path.

A bus ride from Gudvangen to Voss and then a train journey from Voss to Bergen rounded up the end of the trip, by this time the sun had set and we were quite tired from lack of sleep and excitement.
