Northern Lights

To see the Aurora Borealis, commonly known as the Northern Lights, has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. So on our trip up to northern Norway, one of my aims was to see the lights.

On our first night in Tromso, we had booked ourselves into a tour and much to our disappointment, did not see the lights due to overcast skies and low aurora activity. Luckily our tour company had a 50% next tour discount if you do not spot the lights, so for our last night in Tromso we took a gamble and booked ourselves in for the tour despite overcast skies the whole day.

This time we drove all the way to the Finnish border and we lucky enough to drive away from the clouds and to clear skies were we saw the Norther Lights!! We were so excited and happy, doing a little happy dance as soon as we exited the bus.

The above photos are all taken from my camera, using an ISO of about 400 and shutter speed of 30sec.
